As a follow up to the award-winning album Siente, musicians Hilary Field and Patrice O’Neill present Cantilena—Night Songs From Around the World (Yellow Tail Records).
This lullaby album, inspired by world music from Ireland, Sweden, Argentina, Romania, and Japan, is a classically-based arrangement rich with songs designed to promote relaxation and serenity.

Field and O’Neill Showcase Musical Talents
Together, classical guitarist Hilary Field and vocalist Patrice O’Neill, offer an album of global lullabies. Cantilena—Night Songs From Around the World is rich with culturally diverse influences that have the intention of soothing even the most stressed listener, giving him or her a chance to achieve peace and solitude at the end of the day.
Field is an award winning classical guitarist, earning the Classical Album of the Year award from the National Association of Independent Record Distributors for her debut album Music of Spain and Latin America. As an advocate for music education, Field is a member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association and founding member of Mulberry Bush Music and Movement.
Singer and songwriter O’Neill has rightfully earned acclaim for her vocal skills. As a member of the musical groups Mel Cooleys and Uncle Bonsai, O’Neill also serves as director for the Wintergrass festival.
Several established musicians offer guest appearance on this album, including Mike Marshall and Darol Anger, Nancy Rumbel, Andy Connell, David Lange, Mike Marshall, Garey Shelton, the Pacific NW Ballet, and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.
Cantilena Songs Instill Moods of Relaxation
Several beautifully arranged tracks make up the album Cantilena. “Brezairola” sounds like a direct recipe from the musicians, instructing listeners to sit back and close their eyes, and imagine themselves transcended to a place of harmony. While “Los Bilbilicos (La Rosa Enflorece)” is a melodic dream is a melodic dream, title track “Cantilena” is a magical fairytale surely to invoke feelings of peace and relaxation.
