A Listener’s Review of Radiant Sky by Scott August
Scott August is an award-winning musician whose ability to harmoniously play a variety of instruments has won him recognition around the world. In particular, his keen ability to create multi-textured sounds and his talent on the Native American wood-flute are both rare and exceptional.
In his latest creation, Radiant Sky, August takes the listener on a journey into the world of ancient civilizations through his meditative and mystical musical creation. Inspired by the connection we have to all past and future cultures through the stars in the sky, August tells his listeners that this fifth CD is a more contemplative production than any of the four that have come before for this Native American Music Award and ZMR Lifestyle Music Award winner.
August describes what you’ll hear on Radiant Sky:
There is a little less flute playing and a bit more of a space-music sound, more ethereal dreamscapes.
Mesmerizing Sounds to Transform Your Mood
Radiant Sky is perfect accompaniment music for relaxation, meditation, massage therapy, spa treatments, yoga, and alternative healing practices.
The music on Radiant Sky is calming, serene, and makes the listener feel as if he or she is lying on a soft blanket gazing up dreamily at the awe-inspiring, culture connecting constellations of worlds gone by.
I particularly liked the first track, “Calling the Sun,” which runs for just over three minutes. It welcomes you in, warms your soul, and transforms the mood to one of perfect peace.
The third track, “Arc of Dreams” is inspiring and mesmerizes your mind into the exploration of a dreamland in the very sky above us all everyday.
The sounds of pianos, indigenous flutes, and guitars, fill the air and take the dull and ordinary into extraordinary and magical. The song titles vividly evoke imagery that is delivered through the tunes of each track. Take the fourth track, “The River of Stars.” August says he was inspired for this track by his visit to Peru where he learned of the ancient Incan belief that every star represents a person, place, or event on earth. Each song delivers the same depth of poetry, meaning, and musical genius.
