Karla McLaren Discusses the Universal Language of Emotions
Emotions are acutely powerful energy states.
In fact, social scientist Karla McLaren notes that a person’s emotions function as an independent system. Without a healthy emotional system, one cannot be whole.
This is the perspective offered by McLaren in her program The Language of Emotions: What Your Feelings Are Trying to Tell You (Sounds True). McLaren offers advice and leads discussions on how one can self-heal through developing a greater understanding of his or her emotional background.
Karla McLaren, Empath
Social science researcher Karla McLaren is an empath, or one who reads emotions. At one point in her lengthy career, McLaren considered this a fairly magical ability. That is until she had the realization that empathy often gets confused as supernatural because so many people are emotionally confused.
McLaren realized that people can refine their emotional intelligence by learning to have a better relationship with their own emotional states. In 2001, she released the book Emotional Genius. Since then, McLaren rewrote and retitled this research, and combined a thorough academic approach with a detailed perspective of both the artistic and emotional realms. The result is an effective and powerful holistic healing program.
Resource for Emotional Health
McLaren’s The Language of Emotions: What Your Feelings Are Trying to Tell You (Sounds True) is a program designed to help listeners develop a healthy relationship with their emotions in order to combat common stresses from everyday life, including family, career, and the lifelong search for joy.
McLaren discusses how to come to terms with one’s emotions and how to resolve feelings of fear, anger, hopelessness, and many more. Understanding our emotions will give one a greater sense of wisdom. Covered in this emotional healing program are:
- exercises to engage one’s emotions effectively;
- methods on how to overcome the three primary hurdles to emotional balance: addiction, distractions, and unresolved trauma;
- strategies on how to restore personal boundaries that have been damaged by anger;
- discussions on the five skills of the empath; and
- techniques to balance mind, body, spirit, and emotions for an overall healthy well-being.
McLaren also discusses the importance of honoring, rather than shaming, feelings of sadness, as this emotion is inherent is every person’s life. She also encourages people to actively and openly embrace feelings of joy.
The Language of Emotions is a powerful resource for anyone struggling to come to terms with emotional distress or anyone in search of techniques to move past emotional imbalances. Available as a CD set, audio download, or soft cover book, McLaren’s words have helped thousands of people gain more clarity with the often confusing world of emotional health.
